   • The Ganga river dolphin was particularly noted in large numbers in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, followed by West Bengal and Assam, indicating the ecological significance of the Ganga basin for long-term dolphin conservation.

5. Training and Capacity Building:

   • A regional training workshop for forestry personnel from 13 districts of Uttar Pradesh was organized to standardize field methodologies and capacity building for biodiversity assessments.

   • The current survey plans to assess the Irawadi dolphin, found in Sundarbans and Odisha, marking a significant expansion in the geographic coverage and species inclusion.
