    • Facilitates secure and efficient logistics and regulatory information sharing, akin to systems at airports and seaports.
  • Interoperability:
    • Integrates with national platforms like ICEGATE and ULIP for seamless coordination among stakeholders.

Infrastructure Development:

  • Inauguration of stakeholder housing facilities at Dawki and Srimantpur land ports to strengthen support for border security personnel and other stakeholders.

Economic and Trade Data

  • Growth in EXIM Trade:
    • Increased from approximately ₹5,000 crore in 2014-15 to ₹82,800 crore in 2024-25, with a projected ₹73,300 crore for 2025-26.
  • Cargo Vehicle Growth:
    • Number of cargo vehicles grew from 1.1 lakh to 6.69 lakh in 2024-25, with a slight decrease to 6.63 lakh expected in 2025-26.
  • Passenger Movement:
    • Increased from 1.7 lakh to 25.8 lakh in 2024-25, with 11.90 lakh recorded in 2025-26.

Institutional Framework

  • Indian Land Port Authority (LPAI):
    • A statutory body under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
    • Responsible for the development and management of land ports to facilitate trade, connectivity, and regional cooperation.
  • Operational Land Ports:
    • Currently manages 15 land ports across various international borders, including:
      • India-Pakistan: Attari (Punjab), Dera Baba Nanak (Punjab)
      • India-Nepal: Rupaidiah (Uttar Pradesh), Raxaul (Bihar), Jogbani (Bihar)
      • India-Bhutan: Darang (Assam)
      • India-Bangladesh: Petrapole (West Bengal), Dawki (Meghalaya), Sutarkandi, Golakganj, Manikachar (Assam), Agartala, Srimantpur, Sabroom (Tripura)
      • India-Myanmar: Moreh (Manipur)

Strategic Importance

  • The LPMS initiative aligns with India’s strategic commitment to achieving a 'Developed India' by 2047.
  • Enhances trade facilitation, connectivity, and national security through advanced technological solutions.
