Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha's Announcement on Sanskriti Haat

1. Financial Grant:

   • A financial grant of Rs 50.25 lakh announced to promote livelihoods linked to ‘Sanskriti Haat’.

2. Project Details:

   • ‘Sanskriti Haat’ is organized by Bangla Sanskriti Balay, a socio-cultural organization active in West Bengal, Bangladesh, Tripura, and Assam.
   • The Haat takes place every Sunday at Senpara in Nandannagar, West Tripura.

3. Inauguration and Significance:

   • The first Haat was inaugurated on December 10, 2023.
   • The 100th edition was celebrated recently, highlighting its cultural and community significance.
   • CM emphasized the Haat's dual role in providing entertainment and promoting self-reliance among families.

4. Socio-Economic Impact:

   • Approximately 50 families are connected to the Haat through self-help groups.
   • The initiative is part of the broader objective of the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) aimed at enhancing rural livelihoods.

5. Cultural Contribution:

   • The Haat features traditional Bengali cultural elements, such as biyer geet (wedding songs) and an assortment of traditional foods like pitha (rice dumplings).
   • It reflects the traditional marketplace ethos similar to Sonajhuri Haat famous in Shantiniketan, West Bengal.

6. Objectives of the Initiative:

   • Promotion of local crafts and cultural heritage.
   • Economic empowerment through self-help groups and livelihood generation.
